How to Get GTC on Your Preferred Network

To participate in GTC staking, you need GTC tokens in your wallet. This guide covers the most common ways to acquire GTC and how to bridge tokens to Layer 2 networks for lower transaction costs.

For the lowest gas fees when staking, we recommend using GTC on Layer 2 networks such as:

  • Optimism — Low-cost transactions with strong ecosystem support
  • Arbitrum — Fast finality and low fees

Using L2 networks significantly reduces the cost of staking transactions compared to Ethereum mainnet.

Decentralized Exchanges (DEXs)

You can swap other tokens for GTC on decentralized exchanges:

  • Uniswap — Available on Ethereum mainnet, Optimism, and Arbitrum. Visit app.uniswap.org  and search for GTC in the token selector.
  • SushiSwap — Available on multiple networks. Visit sushi.com  and swap your preferred token for GTC.

Steps to swap on a DEX:

  1. Connect your wallet to the DEX
  2. Select the token you want to swap from (e.g., ETH, USDC)
  3. Select GTC as the token to receive
  4. Enter the amount you want to swap
  5. Review the exchange rate and confirm the transaction

Centralized Exchanges (CEXs)

You can purchase GTC on major centralized exchanges and withdraw to your wallet:

  • Coinbase — Buy GTC directly or trade from other assets
  • Binance — Available for trading in multiple pairs
  • Kraken — Supports GTC trading

Steps to buy on a CEX:

  1. Create or log in to your exchange account
  2. Deposit funds (fiat or crypto)
  3. Navigate to the GTC trading pair
  4. Place a buy order for your desired amount
  5. Withdraw GTC to your personal wallet

Important: Always withdraw to a wallet you control. Do not stake from an exchange address.

Wallet Swaps

Many wallets offer built-in swap functionality:

  • MetaMask — Use the built-in swap feature to exchange tokens for GTC directly within your wallet
  • Trust Wallet — Access the swap function to convert tokens to GTC

These wallet-native swaps are convenient but may have slightly higher fees than using a DEX directly.

Bridging GTC to Layer 2

If you have GTC on Ethereum mainnet and want to move it to an L2 for cheaper staking:

  1. Visit a supported bridge such as the Optimism Bridge  or Arbitrum Bridge
  2. Connect your wallet
  3. Select GTC as the token to bridge
  4. Enter the amount you want to transfer
  5. Confirm the bridge transaction
  6. Wait for the bridging process to complete (this can take several minutes to hours depending on the bridge)

Once bridged, your GTC will be available on the L2 network for staking with significantly lower gas costs.

How Much GTC Do You Need?

The minimum amount depends on the staking tier you want to achieve:

  • Bronze self-stake: 5 GTC
  • Silver self-stake: 20 GTC
  • Gold self-stake: 125 GTC
  • Community staking: Variable amounts

Remember to keep some ETH in your wallet for gas fees on whichever network you use.
