How it works
A Passport aggregates evidence that an address belongs to a distinct person, and turns it into a score an application can gate on. There are three ways to use it, and they answer different questions.

Stamps and Models produce a score, so an application picks its own threshold rather than being handed a binary. Individual Verifications produce zero-knowledge attestations, so the application learns that a check passed without receiving the underlying data. Proof of Clean Hands is the strongest of these.
Verification is reusable. A person verifies once and proves it repeatedly, which is the point: the alternative is every service collecting its own copy of the same documents.
Where it’s used
Airdrops and grant programs use it to keep funds going to people rather than farms. Governance systems use it to make one-person-one-vote enforceable. Shield uses a Passport score of 20 or higher as the de-minimis tier for transfers under $1,000. See For Apps & Communities.
